How did you choose your IG name?
My username @igotbraidsinatlanta is from the lyric from the song Panda by Desiigner but i'm also actually going to be living in the city of Atlanta next year which is why I chose it!

How long have you been braiding for?
I’ve always been good at braiding but it wasn’t until about 8 months ago that I got really passionate about it and started experimenting with more intricate braids. Then, only 3 months ago that I decided to start photographing my braids and sharing them via Instagram.

How did you get into braiding?
It may sound a bit strange but I initially discovered I love braiding thanks to head lice. I was a sleep away camp counsellor this past Summer and a couple of my campers had head lice; and the best preventative measure for lice is constantly having your hair in tight braids.  Every morning and every night my campers would line up and I would braid twelve girls’ hair. To make it more fun and less about the lice, I started doing a bunch of fancy braids and actually found it super fun and kept going with it after camp.

What is your favourite look to create?
My absolute favorite look is something I call a “rollercoaster braid.” There are loads of variations of it I do but it’s basically a dutch braid that’s starts very small and then snakes around in all different directions. I love it because it can spice up a casual everyday look but it can also fit into glam and edgy looks.

What celebrities hair would you like to braid?
I would love to braid Blake Lively’s hair because she’s always showcasing unique braids and a lot of my inspiration comes from her looks and I also do a series of boy braids so I would love to do Mac Demarco’s hair. And Beyoncé just because she’s Beyoncé.

What are your hopes for the future; goal or career wise?
I hope to one day turn braiding into a full-time career. While it may not be in my near future, the big dream is to open a braid bar that specializes in doing all kinds of different braid styles. But for now, I would love to gain some more Instagram hype and continue with the small events I’m beginning to do hair for.
